Cashew Nut – Infographic

Client: Coopi
Commissioned by the Italian organisation for international co-operation COOPI, I produced a Poster A1 infographic showing the cashew nut market in the world, and the relevance that this product has in Africa, including the advantages and disadvantages that this business produces.
One of the main connotations is the journey that the fruit makes around the world, where 50% of the production is made in Africa, and then travels to Vietnam and India for processing, and then travels to Europe and USA for consumption.

It was a project with a lot of graphic research, where I had to look for references of the shape of the fruit and its components, information on how it is processed, what tools and/or machines are used, people involved in the process, etc.

We had a lot of content to show, and there were many questions to answer. That’s why we decided to make an A1 poster. This format allowed us to visualise all the information in one medium without having to divide it into, for example, pages of a magazine.

I designed a map with azimuthal orthographic projection with Africa in the centre and where distances can be seen in a better way than in a traditional map (Mercator projection).

Most of the content of the infographic is vectorial, except for the main image on the top left. As the fruit is unknown to most people, it was decided to use a 3D image that could provide a little more detail than a flat image, but without being 100% realistic, so that it would not be too far apart from the rest of the graphic.
